Happy New Year fit
people!!! I pray that 2016 brings fulfillment and abundance our way.
As a typical Ibo man, I traveled to my
hometown to mark the New Year celebration. Amidst the occasions going on I was
determined to stay fit and not add all the extra fat that comes with the
holidays. One of the ways I achieved this was by doing a step run on the famous
stairs of the Ogbunike cave located in Ogbunike Village, Oyi local government
area of Anambra state.
The Stairs to the Cave's entrance
My visit to the Ogbunike cave was educating; I interacted with the guard at the cave and he told
me of the myth surrounding the cave.
I learnt that the people of Ogbunike believe that the cave saved their ancestors during the civil war. They believe
that a python that lives in the cave protected the people of the community and
ate intruding enemies. Till this day, the people of Ogbunike ‘worship’ the
python; it is a sacrilegious taboo to kill a python on Ogbunike land.
After listening to
the stories about the cave, I did a step run on the 310 stairs that lead into
the cave.
Climbing up the stairs to the
top was really hard because of the number of the stairs; I was only able to go
up and down the stairs 3 times before I finally gassed out.
Staying Fit is a
lifestyle and I’m always on the lookout for fun ways to exercise and stay fit
wherever I go. I like to try new things; I like to take risks because I believe
that growth comes from taking risks.
You should visit the
Ogbunike Cave next time you are in Anambra state and you will love your experience
with nature.
Share your workout
experiences during the holiday season.
