ACCESS BANK'S RUN LAGOS MARATHON

Hey Fitnation, The city of Lagos was on standstill yesterday morning for the access bank's #Runlagos marathon and I was proud to be one of the participants.
The 42KM run started at 7;00am from the National stadium Surulere and ended at Eko Atlantic city Victoria Island.

The marathon route

Though this is my first attempt at running very long distance races, I got to the 21KM mark(half marathon) before my feet decided not to move again.

Enjoy flicks from the run:

My earphone, my water and I

I can't say the exact number of people that participated, but we were well above 5,000

13KM mark

On third mainland bridge; I needed that bottle of coke badly.

My nephew, we did this together.

21KM mark; At this point I was totally exhausted so i boarded the next BRT bus that came my way.

Entrance to the reception venue (Eko Atlantic)

We are finally here! 42KM. My friend suffered muscle cramp during the race but still managed to get to the finish line. I respect the spirit in him.

Stand Up for the champions!

By the way, the race was won by a Kenyan athlete Abraham Kipton  at a record time of 2 hours 16 minutes (I was still on third mainland bridge then. LOL). These Kenyan guys are something else.

It was a great one for me, thanks to access bank and Lagos state for putting together an event like this. I look forward to participating again next year.

Cheers to the fit life.
