Hi Fitnation; it’s another great weekend and I hope you all
are crushing your fitness goals for the week!
Over the years, I notice a lot of people indulge in physical exercises only on Saturdays, they are either too occupied or stressed to stay fit during the week; they let their guards down; eat junk food and drink volumes of alcohol only to jump out of bed on Saturdays and train for hours, hoping to burn the accumulated fat in one day. Interestingly, it is this same people that will ask you “how long will it take for me to lose XX kg?” LOL

Fitness is a way
of life, It should be what you do every day, according to Edward R.
Laskowski of mayoclinic.org every adult
must aim for 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity weekly or 75 minutes of
vigorous aerobic activity. If you are
going for moderate aerobic activities which are recommended for beginners, this
translates to 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week.
Some people say “I work Monday to Friday, I leave home very
early and come back very late I can’t workout during the week”. Ok, that’s
fine, I understand but how about waking up 30 minutes earlier to do your aerobics
before preparing for work?
If most of
us comprehend the importance of regular exercise to our general health and
functionality as humans, we wouldn't skip workout routines for anything.
So, here I outlined some of the health benefits of regular
physical exercise:
· * Regular exercise slows the rate of aging-
Everybody wants to be forever young right? Exercise is the natural way to stay
and feel young.
· *It helps blood circulation -Exercise removes
blockages from the blood vessels, therefore making blood circulate freely
around the body.
· *It reduces the risk of diabetes, obesity and
cardiovascular diseases.
· *Increases your energy level – Imagine having
extra bursts of energy to do more home chores or office work, to some of us this
translates to more pay. Regular exercise is a wise investment.
· * It is a natural mood enhancer- Have you ever
wondered why you find the happiest people in the gym. Well, exercise triggers
the release of the endorphin hormone which gives a feeling of natural high and
happiness.
· *Helps you enjoy a better sex life – Yes!
Exercise increases your libido and sexual stamina.
· *A cure for insomnia- You don’t have to worry
about insomnia again, regular exercise will make you fall asleep as soon as
your head hits the pillow. However, do not work out an hour before bed time
else you will be too energetic to fall asleep.
· * Helps the brain function better- This is the
best part, a lot of research works have shown connectivity between regular exercise
and brain function. Since exercise increases the flow of blood to every part of
the body including the brain, it helps the brain’s cognitive and retentive
abilities.
Employees who exercise are known to be more agile, smart and effective at work than their colleagues who do not exercise.

There are numerous benefits of
regular physical exercise but this post is already too long, I beg to stop
here. I encourage you to do a research on “the benefits of regular exercise”
you will be shocked to know how much you are missing for not inculcating
fitness into your everyday life.
Remember, it is not what you do
once in a while that matters but what you do regularly.
Cheers to the fit life.
